Evergreen content

Content with long-term relevance — outperforms time-sensitive content in cumulative AI citations.

Definition

Evergreen content is material that remains relevant for years after publication: definitional posts ('what is X'), how-to guides, frameworks, taxonomies. AI engines accumulate citations to evergreen pages over years, making them disproportionately valuable. Time-sensitive content ('Best CRM 2024') decays fast and needs annual republishing.

Example

'How to set up a sales funnel' from 2018 still gets cited in 2026 because the concepts haven't changed. 'Best CRM 2024' is obsolete in 2026.

How to optimize

Frame headlines without dates. Use 'guide' over 'best of year' format. Schedule annual reviews + minor updates rather than wholesale rewrites. Keep URL stable.
